Toyo Proxes R1R STS Autocross and Drifting Tire

New Toyo R1R

From Toyo Tire USA

Introducing the new Toyo Proxes R1R

Developed from years of grueling on-track experence and engineered to elevated performance standards, Toyo’s new Proxes R1R allows capabilities beyond normal driving limitations.  An aggressive, arrowhead design, extra wide footprint, high-grip compound, and advanced autocross-inspired casing design provide every advantage while driving hard through the corners and quickly accelerating in the straight-aways.  It’s extreme performance for serious street driving.

So far, we have been very satisfied with the performance of the Toyo R1R P205/50R15 tires on our STS class Neon ACR. We ran the car in the wet yesterday for the second time, and the performance was outstanding, only about 5 seconds slower than in the dry on a 45.xx track.

Anybody know when the P225/45R15’s will become available? When shaved, these should really be the hot ticket for our “heavy” car against the Civic Si’s that dominate STS on the National level.

I am also very satisfied with the performance of this tire. I am in STS as well, and received the shaved R1-R’s late last season, and promptly took the SE-R to two wins in four races, one wet, one dry. including the second event I had them. They enjoy low pressures. I also won HS by about 3 seconds at a small local event in my bone stock sentra SE special edition. Breakaway characteristics are very easy to recognize and the tire as a high level of grip on smooth surfaces like new asphalt and concrete. Tire also seems to love excessive negative camber, unlike the Falkens or Hankooks. Congrats to Tim Smith…won Nat Championship on the R1R’s!
