We at www.Tireshaving.com / www.TheTireShoppe.com have shaved well over 2,000 tires this year to a variety of depths to meet your need.  We have a fulltime staff trained in specialized tire shaving, including Camber shave and custom shaving to your specifications.  We carry the full line of Toyo Proxes RA1 and Toyo Proxes R888 DOT R-Compound tires. 

TheTireShoppe is also a select distributor for the new Toyo Proxes R1R Performance tire.  We are also the North-east Hankook Competition Tire Distributor.  The Hankook Ventus RS2 Z212 is a qualified STS Class autocross tire that can be shaved to your desired depth for competition.   

If someone told you to shave the tread off of a brand new tire to make it perform better on dry road and last longer would you believe them? When it comes to Road Race and Autocross tires in most cases its true.

Competition or R-Compound tires like the Toyo Proxes RA1, Toyo Proxes R888, and Hankook Ventus RS2 Z212 tires are DOT approved tires for use in extreme situations.  The tires are made with 6/32 to 10/32 of tread depth to use as a rain tire or to drive from home to the event and back again.  This much tread will flex under extreme conditions thus reduce traction and performance of the tire and also generate heat.  An enemy of tire life is heat.  Even though you need heat in a tire to perform to its greatest potential, to much can be a bad thing.  To much heat can cause the tread to blister and fail.  Many R-Compound tires are designed to be shaved to 4/32 or less to remove the tread blocks and stabilizes the footprint of the tire.  Also by removing the tread it removes weight, as much as 2 or 3 pounds.

Tire shaving is an effective way to get more of the tires performance capability early in its life.

We are a large tire dealer in the northeast for Michelin, BF Goodrich, Uniroyal, Toyo, Hankook, Pirelli, and Yokohama.  We are the northeast distributor for the Hankook Competiton Tires including Rally, DOT Roadrace, and Circuit Slick.  We are also a distributor for the Toyo Proxes RA1, Toyo Proxes R888, Toyo Proxes R1R, and the Eastern distributor for the Toyo Proxes Drag Slick.  We provide Tire Shaving in house to standard and custom depths.  We ship small orders UPS, often the same day as the order.  Larger orders can be shipped Common Carrier to a business and often at a lower freight cost.
